Kuretake Ink

A wonderful companion that goes far beyond calligraphy!
We have taken a close look at Kuretake's inks and worked out the finer points and how to use them in detail.

Overview of all Kuretake inks

These high-quality inks are very economical and can be removed with a pipette so that minimal amounts can be used. Whether applied with a fountain pen, pipette, brush or even acrylic block - they are versatile and can be used to create great accents.

What is particularly worth mentioning here is the ease of handling the inks. Normally you approach them with a certain amount of caution, but as they are very water-soluble, you don't need to worry about getting your fingers stained. The work area is also easy to clean afterwards, but you should still be careful with your clothing. Especially with the shimmering inks, there is no guarantee that they will wash out completely.

MEIJI NO IRO SERIES

overview meiji no iro color inks

The very intensely colored inks are inspired by the Meiji era, a well-known period in Japanese history from the 19th to 20th centuries.
On their own, they are very opaque, but they can also be mixed with a little water. This allows you to create and use beautiful, classic Japanese, washed-out tones.

These colors create a beautiful mix, especially with the Drop of Shimmer.

This combination impresses with a shiny shimmer, especially in the light, which is unbeatable. Many different colors are reflected here.

DROP OF SNOW /SHADOW/ THINNER

Drop of Snow leaves a wonderful, speckled impression on dark paper - the larger the drops/area, the more likely the ink will crack when it dries.

The additional benefit of mixing a little Drop of Snow with other colors is the ability to lighten a shade, increase the opacity and mix a new pastel shade from it.

Drop of Shadow & Drop of Thinner

When applied pure, Drop of Shadow offers the classic advantages for calligraphy. But with a brush and a little water, you can also use it for great coloring.

Drop of Shadow

Drop of Shadow is a wonderful option when combined with other colored inks. When mixed, this creates a darker tone of color.
It is also possible to use Drop of Thinner to lighten the colored ink and make it appear transparent.

DROP OF SHIMMER

Even a small amount of Drop of Shimmer will make your inks shine. On their own, they are of course very opaque and immediately catch the eye, even on dark paper.

Drop of Shimmer Gold

It becomes particularly colorful if you drop a drop of shimmer into the puddle of liquid ink. This will find its way and leave behind a completely natural drying effect that can be surprising.

Other uses of the ink

We also tried out the possibility of stamping with acrylic blocks , running the liquid ink on the paper and the targeted use of the pipette with small ink bubbles that burst to create a great effect!

All in all, the Kuretake inks are a great companion for many creative projects and not only embellish your paper in a magical way.
