Instructions: Bag with bag handle

The compact bags with practical handles are a sweet eye-catcher. Small but nice, they offer space for a few sweets or other gifts.

Step 1

Before you make the actual body of the bag, first punch out your desired bag handle from your preferred design paper. This order is important because we want to make the bag the right size for the handle.

Step 2

Next, take your design paper and place it in front of you with the back facing up. The width and height of the bag are individually adjusted to the size of the handle. To make things easier, draw in all the auxiliary lines; you can use our sketch to build the bag.

Here is an example of the general structure for you - you can change the dimensions as you wish (we recommend a width of 3 cm for the sides of the bag, which you fold once in the middle - in this case 1.5 cm ):

Now cut out your design paper using the guidelines.

Place the cut piece on the folding board with the long side and fold diagonally along the dashed lines shown to the lower fold edge (see illustration).

Turn the paper 90° and fold it at 2.5 cm for the bottom.

Step 3

Simply cut the lower adhesive tabs for the floor as shown.

Afterwards, you should re-fold the resulting fold lines with a bone folder.

Next, simply apply an adhesive of your choice to the adhesive tab and glue the bag together.

Step 4

Finally, glue the punched-out handles to the top of one side of the bag. To conveniently close the bag (again), you can use a Velcro sticker, a magnet or a pretty ribbon.

Your beautiful, handmade bag is ready!
